Tams Packaging Ltd

Based in Cuffley, Tams are leading specialists in cardboard box, carton and packaging printing and manufacturing. 

Herts Computer Services were first called into Tams to organise the upgrade and replacement of all desktop machine which at the time used Windows XP. With Microsoft no longer supporting Windows XP the machines were at the end of their life. At the time they were using a desktop as a file server and had a limited IMAP/POP email system.  

An ageing Windows XP desktop machine was also being used as a file server.

We organised the purchase and installation of 7 Lenovo desktop PCs and Synology NAS, with mirrored hard drives, to become the new file server.

The Synology NAS has the added benefit of direct remote access from remote locations. This works especially easily with Macs. A local daily backup of the NAS has been setup and to add redundancy it is backed up to the cloud utilising Synology’s C2 backup soulution which is affordable and automated to make it easy to use/maintain.

We have upgraded the email services from a hosted IMAP/POP email to Microsoft Office 365 email. This provides a robust professional email solution. Tams have benefited from synchronising email between devices, shared mailboxes and out off office replies.

Both the use of the Synology File server and Office 365 email has allowed for easy remote working.

We continue to support Tams on an Ad hoc basis providing support when it is needed in all aspects of their IT.
